The department of OBS/Gynae was established as an integral part of Madina Teaching Hospital (MTH) affiliated with University Medical & Dental College/ the University of Faisalabad about 15 years back with the basic mission of integrating education & research with state of art clinical services.
We at MTH (OBGY dept.) are a diverse group of women health care professionals who are committed to deliver evidence based comprehensive care to women (patients) across their life span.
The OBG/ Gynae department at MTH has evolved as a unique educational hub blending excellent patient care with quality medical education to under and post graduate students under the specialized team of esteemed faculty members.Our services are aimed to train young gynecologist & obstetrician as safe surgeon who utilize their knowledge & skills for improving maternal, clinical health care, decreasing maternal & neonatal mortality and morbidity.

Introduction
The department of obstetrics & Gynaecology MTH is coincident with excellence. The extensive facilities and services offered to women and newborn makes it one of the best departments in the city. The unit is dedicated to improve maternal health as a priority.
Our services cater to a wide spectrum of women’s health starting from adolescent care to menopause and beyond. We take pride in covering the gamut of our specialty from routine antenatal care to high risk pregnancies, variety of abdominal and vaginal surgeries, minimally invasive surgeries and pelvic floor disorders.
Additionally, we focus on community health and take part actively in multiple outreach programmes to make a difference in women’s health.
As the unit is offeringstate of the artevidence-based servicesin the locality so it has become a major referral center for theobstetrical and gynecological patients.
The department has gained accreditation by various health care authorities including Pakistan Medical &Dental Council, University of Health Sciences,College of Physicians and surgeons Pakistan, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology and Pakistan school of nursing and midwifery.
The department has strong and diverse medical education programmes for students (undergraduate, postgraduate and nursing) and interns, with a hands-on approach to learning by doing. We encourage an extensive array of clinical research programmes.
The curriculum is designed to meet all the challenges of modern obstetrical and gynecological care as well as to decrease the devastatinglyhigh maternal mortality rate in Pakistan.
Multiple instructional techniques are being employed to cater for varied learning needs of the undergraduates including role playing, peer assessment, presentations, simulations and small group discussions. The students are taught following modern concepts of medical education using live demonstrations in clinical practice and skill labs. The course will enable many of the students to excel asleading obstetricians and gynecologists in future.
The department is primarily divided into three components
Gynecologic and obstetric experts at MTH have experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, from common to complex. All locations provide full range of gynecological services from routine medical screening to surgical reconstruction.
Outpatient Clinics:
The OBGY department MTH is known for being one of the best high-risk pregnancy units in Faisalabad.
Chiefly the unit is considered as referral center so there is wide diversity in patients attending OPD ranging from
routine antenatal care tohigh risk pregnancies with medical disorders, fetal growth restriction, aberrant liquor volumes, malpresentations, multiple pregnancies, prenataldisorders (neural tube defects ,hydrocephalus, achondroplasia, cystic hygroma),problems of adolescence age group,advance cases of endometriosis, uterine and ovarian malignancies, primary and secondary infertility and pelvic organ prolapse.
Outdoor procedures:
Outdoor diagnostic procedures like cervical smear, removal and insertion of IUCDs, endometrial sampling with pipelle & endosampler, high vaginal swabs and salineson hysterography.
All sorts of obstetrical and gynecological scan are being performed by experienced team of consultants daily in OPD.
Indoor Obstetrical and gynecological wards:
All kind of obstetrical and gynecological patients are managed by team of doctors, nurses and paramedics. Ranging from conservative management to surgery, postoperative care, all are being provided by dedicated staff.
Along with many minor procedures are carried routinely.
Emergency department (labour room):
All sortsof obstetrical and gynecological emergencies are beingtaken round the clock including antepartum hemorrhagedue to placental abruption, placenta previa, postpartum hemorrhage, uterine rupture, patients with multiple cesarean sections, eclampsia, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, cyst accidents and obstructed labour.
