We welcome you in department of radiology and medical imaging. As imaging is key of diagnostic for many disease and health important in monitoring, treating and predicting the art form. Our mission is to provide sustainable, high quality, safe and effective medical imaging service education and research.
Our radiologists are known around the town for their expertise in diagnosis and management of disease and work closely with clinicians.
Education is an important facet of our department. In addition to medical student and allied health education, the department conducts a residency program in diagnostic radiology.
Research is final component of our academic mission. The division of radiology research provides expertise in bio medical imaging.
Feel free to peruse our website for information about our department, faculty, medical student education, residency program.
Prof. Dr. Nayab Alia
HOD, Department of radiology
The Department of Radiology at the Madinah Teaching Hospital provides patients imaging services with state-of-the-art technology such as digital X-ray, 64 slice computed tomography (CT), 1.5T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), flat panel digital fluoroscopy and digital mammography with stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound and Doppler ultrasounds, 4D ultrasound. Interventional radiological procedures benefit our patients while advancing our academic mission of education and research.
The Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) certifies our Clinical Imaging Services. The PNRA operates under the regulatory requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and conducts regular audits and inspections for quality assurance and radiation safety. The department is ISO 9001: 2008 certified that further ensures we deliver high quality health care that meets international standards.
Our highly trained and experienced team of consultant radiologists, clinical imaging technicians and staff ensure that the images are properly taken and interpreted to give you fast and accurate results.
Almost all of our services are offered around the clock not just for our admitted patients (inpatients) but also for patients visiting our consulting clinics (outpatients) as well as those patients referred from physicians from other hospitals.
We are committed to provide high quality education both at undergraduate and post-graduate level. At undergraduate level, the University of Faisalabad has launched a 5-year degree program that is School of Radiology. We are particularly enthusiastic about the potential for our school and department to grow into one of the premiere educational and research programs in Radiology nationwide.
The Radiology department remains is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide a full range of services from diagnostic imaging to interventional procedures that cater to the needs of in-patients, out-patients and referrals.
Special services are offered to the patients such as MRI compatible Anesthesia machine. A day in a week is especially fixed for claustrophobic patients, old age, irritable patients and young or newborns who require anesthesia for their diagnostic imaging under highly trained faculty of anesthesia and radiologists using MRI compatible anesthesia machine.
Highly trained female staff and radiologists are available to provide services for breast cancer screening and diagnostic imaging including Breast dedicated MRI coils, breast mammography with stereotactic biopsy and state of the art ultrasonography with elastography at the world’s latest and best ultrasound machine.
Digital flat panel fluoroscopy is only available at MTH. Fluoroscopy is a multi-mode, digital imager for real- time x-ray applications. The imager has three modes of operation: low dose fluoroscopy, zoom fluoroscopy, and high resolution radiography.Fluoroscopy differs from most other X-ray imaging in that the images produced appear in real-time, allowing evaluation of dynamic biological processes and guiding interventions. Electronic fluoroscopy systems create this perception by capturing and displaying images at a high frame rate.
Elastography and 4D ultrasonography will provide revolutionary services in imaging at Faisalabad. Difference between 3D and 4D includes 3D images are used to show you three-dimensional external images that may be helpful in diagnosing issues such as a cleft lip. What 4D ultrasound brings to the table is that as the image is continuously updated, it becomes a moving image, like watching a movie.
Image the scene of seeing your baby features well before birth like holding him or her in your arms. Wow.
Interventional radiology is a subspecialty of radiology in which minimally invasive procedures are done using image guidance. Interventional techniques, such as injecting arteries with dye, visualizing these via x-ray, and opening up blockages, developed from early pioneers' bold and sometimes controversial experiments which aimed to find safer and better ways to treat vascular disease. The benefits of interventional techniques thus are reduced recovery time and pain associated with the procedures,
• Due to their less invasive nature.
• Aim to find safer and better ways to treat vascular diseases even in many instances,
• Interventional radiology solutions has been considered the only treatment option for the patients.
• Interventional radiologists are specialists who perform minimally invasive procedures instead of surgery or other treatments.
• These procedures apply various imaging and catheterization procedures in order to diagnose and treat diseases including CT guided biopsies, microwave ablation, TACE, PTC and much more.
