Introduction:

Department of Breast Surgery, Madinah Teaching Hospital is established since 01-06-2022. It is providing state of the art surgical management to patients with benign and malignant breast diseases. Patient management starts at outpatient department with triple assessment and case is thoroughly evaluated to present in multi-disciplinary team meeting. Affiliated departments for multidisciplinary care , i.e; Pathology, Radiology, Oncology, Physiotherapy and psychiatry are involved in making a comprehensive management plan that is discussed in weekly MDT meetings so that patient management follows latest clinical practice guidelines.

Department of Breast Surgery has evolved a concrete system of training to Breast Surgery fellows and is the only department in Faisalabad offering fellowship training in Breast Surgery. Because of commitment to excellence, the patient’s turnover in this department has increased many folds and now we have started a 3^rd operation list in a week. Unique breast surgeries offered to patients are; Breast conservative surgery, therapeutic mammoplasty, reduction mammoplasty, flap based breast reconstruction, implant based breast reconstruction. Department has framed a weekly plan of 3 days a week OPD  and 3 days for operation theatre along with  grand rounds, case presentation by trainees, weekly hybrid MDT and Journal club meetings and research activities. Students and trainees are also encouraged to participate in CPD activities, like workshops, conferences and courses to keep updated about the recent management of breast diseases.

Services Offered

Breast surgery for benign and malignant breast diseases. This is one of the few departments in Pakistan where unique oncoplastic surgeries are offered e.g, Breast conservation surgery using level1 and 2 oncoplasties, reduction mammoplasty, flap based reconstruction, implant based breast reconstruction, nipple correction, modified radical and skin sparing mastectomies

Department is also actively involved in research and innovation and organization of international breast symposia, seminars and conferences.
