Introduction

Madinah Teaching Hospital's Radiology Department is dedicated to prioritizing patient care through a commitment to excellence in diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures. The Department of Radiology at the Madinah Teaching Hospital is equipped with advanced imaging technologies including two units each of 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, 64 and 128 slice CT scanners, digital X-ray systems with CR and DR capabilities, digital mammography, as well as two units of OPG (Orthopantomogram) machines and 3D/4D ultrasound machines for advanced diagnostic imaging. Additionally, the hospital offers interventional radiological procedures, enabling minimally invasive treatments guided by imaging techniques for precise and effective patient care. These technologies support precise and thorough diagnostic procedures across various medical specialties, ensuring effective patient care and treatment planning.

The department operates 24/7 to cater not only to admitted patients (inpatients) but also to outpatients visiting consulting clinics and those referred from other hospitals. This accessibility ensures timely imaging services for all patients.

Key certifications from the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) and ISO 9001:2008 ensure that the clinical imaging services meet rigorous international standards for quality assurance and radiation safety. Regular audits and inspections by PNRA, operating under the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), further reinforce these standards.

Madinah Teaching Hospital is accredited by the CPSP (College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan) and offers a structured educational environment. It hosts a 2-year MCPS  program, a 4-year FCPS  program, and a 4-year BS in Radiology program, an MS in Ultrasonography (a 2-year program) and Diploma in Ultrasonography.These programs provide comprehensive training and education to medical professionals, ensuring they acquire necessary skills and expertise in radiology and related disciplines.

 MRI :

 Our hospital is proud to offer 24/7 access to advanced  2 units 1.5 Tesla MRI services, ensuring our patients receive prompt and comprehensive diagnostic care whenever needed. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology including dedicated coils for breast, knee, spine, and shoulder examinations, our MRI service is conducted by highly skilled radiologists and technicians who prioritize accuracy and patient comfort. Whether for inpatients or outpatients, our commitment to delivering timely and precise MRI results underscores our dedication to providing exceptional healthcare.

A day in a week is especially fixed for claustrophobic patients, old age, irritable patients and young or newborns who require anesthesia for their diagnostic imaging under highly trained faculty of anesthesia and radiologists using MRI compatible anesthesia machine.

CT scan :

Madina Teaching Hospital offers advanced 2 units of CT scan  machine services utilizing state-of-the-art  64 and 128-slice technology. With a dedicated team of experienced radiologists and technologists, we provide comprehensive imaging solutions including routine body scans, cardiac CT angiography, vascular imaging, virtual colonoscopy, and orthopedic evaluations. Our focus is on delivering efficient, high-quality scans with minimal patient discomfort. We prioritize patient-centered care, ensuring clear communication, privacy, and collaboration with referring physicians for timely and accurate diagnosis.

Furthermore, Madina Teaching Hospital has pioneered the initiation of cardiac CTA as a new procedure with this advanced CT scan technology, marking a significant advancement in cardiovascular diagnostics available at our facility. X-ray machine:

Madina Teaching Hospital provides advanced X-ray services with 2 units of  Digital Radiography (DR) and Computed Radiography (CR) systems. Our digital technology ensures rapid image acquisition and superior quality for skeletal, thoracic, abdominal, and extremity imaging. Emergency services offer swift evaluations for trauma and acute conditions, supporting prompt clinical decisions. Expert radiologists ensure thorough interpretations and consultations, prioritizing patient comfort and comprehensive care.

Digital Fluoroscopy

2 units of Digital flat panel fluoroscopy is only available at MTH. Fluoroscopy is a multi-mode, digital imager for real-time x-ray applications. The imager has three modes of operation: low dose fluoroscopy, zoom fluoroscopy, and high-resolution radiography.Fluoroscopy differs from most other X-ray imaging in that the images produced appear in real-time, allowing evaluation of dynamic biological processes and guiding interventions. Electronic fluoroscopy systems create this perception by capturing and displaying images at a high frame rate.

Ultrasound:

 Madina Teaching Hospital offers advanced ultrasound services with high-resolution grey scale imaging, color Doppler capabilities, and 3D  and 4D ultrasonography and elastography. We provide precise diagnostic imaging for abdominal, pelvic, and thyroid evaluations, comprehensive obstetric care including detailed fetal assessments, and specialized cardiac, vascular, and musculoskeletal imaging.

The addition of 4D ultrasound allows for real-time visualization of fetal movements and facial expressions, enhancing the prenatal experience for expecting parents and facilitating detailed anatomical assessments. OPG machine :

Madina Teaching Hospital offers advanced 2 units of Orthopantomography (OPG) machine services for precise panoramic dental imaging. This technology aids in diagnosing dental conditions efficiently, including impacted teeth and structural abnormalities. Additionally, these latest machines use advanced technology specifically designed for dental implant insertion. Interventional Radiology :

Madina Teaching Hospital excels in minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures, offering advanced treatments such as angiography and angioplasty for vascular conditions, embolization for tumors and abnormal blood vessels, and image-guided biopsies and drainage procedures. We specialize in radiofrequency and microwave ablation for tumor destruction  and thrombolysis for clot removal.
