Introduction

The department of orthopedic surgery was established in 2008 at madina teaching hospital (MTH).

Consultants at Madina Teaching Hospital (MTH) use the latest orthopedic procedures to treat musculoskeletal trauma,sports injuries,degenerative diseases,infections,tumors and congenital disorders.The department has all necessary skills to deal with various stages of arthritis care. Orthopedic department effectively manages arthritis surgery,foot and ankle surgery,hand and wrist surgery,hip and knee reconctruction.paediatric orthopedic surgery,shoulder and elbow surgery,orthopedic trauma surgery,as well as tumor surgery and post surgical rehabilitation.

Department of Orthopedic has also facility of Allied physiotherapy department with qualified and trained physiotherapists.

Following services are provided:

1. Orthopedic Consultations: Comprehensive evaluations by orthopedic consultant to diagnose and develop personalized treatment plans.

2. Diagnostic Imaging: Including X-rays, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (Computed Tomography) scans, and ultrasound to accurately diagnose orthopedic conditions.

3. Fracture Care: Evaluation and treatment of fractures, including casting, splinting, and surgical intervention if necessary.(e.g DHS, Intramedullary/interlocking nail, DCP , LCP , Philos locking plate , e.t.c)

4. Joint Replacement Surgery: Total and partial joint replacement surgeries for hips, knees, shoulders, and other joints affected by arthritis or injury.( Total Hip replacement, Total knee replacement, Hemiarthoplasty)

5. Arthroscopic Surgery: Minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat joint problems, such as torn ligaments, cartilage damage, and joint instability.( ACL repair, Menisectomy , Diagnostic arthroscopy)

6. Sports Medicine: Specialized care for athletes, including treatment of sports-related injuries, performance optimization, and injury prevention strategies.
